A Tribute

My friend Betsy has a gift for making a beautiful home. Walking into her apartment is like taking a breath of pure sweet air and immediately you feel at rest. I can say this with authority as the first time I ever set foot in her apartment was on the worst day of my life with my newborn son on a ventilator a few miles down the road, yet even in that distressed state I felt this and was refreshed by it.

My mom also has a similar gift-she has a green thumb. This last visit to her house we enjoyed beautiful weather, and in spite of the fact that a lot of her flowers weren’t blooming yet, walking through her yard was like taking a stroll through a botanical garden. Even though there are houses nearby, it is quiet and private and you can feel you are in a world all your own. The boys felt this too I think and were delighted to have their very own “trail” to walk on at Nonie’s house. So a special thanks to Betsy and my mom for making the world a more beautiful and peaceful place.

About Wendy McCollum

I am a single mom to five wonderful boys. Life is an adventure, with many twists and turns. We live in hope, always, for our great God can redeem all things. There are so many funny and precious moments that slip by too fast. Perhaps here I can save them for when my own memory fails.
