This last weekend we enjoyed a visit from our dear friends, Debbie and RB Roberts. They made the long journey from Alabama and arrived Saturday evening. The boys had been anticipating their arrival all day and greeted them with all due excitement. Not only did they grace us with their presence, which was enough, they came bearing gifts for all. Among the bag of goodies presented to the boys was a couple of boxes of magic tricks equipment which proved to be a great delight to the oldest three (and Sebastian who found the pieces great fun to carry around in his mouth.) I wasn’t sure the boys would ever go to bed.
The boys have a very special relationship with Mr. Roberts. He affectionately tells them with great frequency that he is going to throw them in the dumpster. This has proved awkward on occasion when they have affectionately told someone else they were going to throw them in the dumpster. Here they are enjoying a game of “You can’t catch me” with their beloved Mr. Roberts.
A new treat for this visit was playing Uno with Mrs. Roberts. It was really quite cute to watch as Isaac and Stephen and Jack compared their hands and strategized together how to skip and make Mrs. Roberts “draw two” at every opportunity. They giggled with glee each time they were successful. Mrs. Roberts played her role valiantly and acted sorrowful and indignant at the mistreatment. She still managed to win a time or two, in spite of their efforts.
Adam and RB enjoyed their pipes and cigars together and Debbie and I had a great time together. It was sad to see them go on Monday afternoon, but we will look forward to their return.
