I don’t often set out to endorse things on my blog, but every now and then I find something that really makes life easier. So I share this I case it might make someone else’s life easier too. So here it is: http://www.saymmm.com. Planning meals for the week and making a grocery list is a time consuming task, one which I seldom get completely finished before getting interrupted by someone or something. Saymmm.com is a menu planning web site. You can enter your own recipes or link to other websites. Then you put your recipes into meals and your means into plans. When you enter the recipe, the site automatically creates a list of things to buy and staples to check to make sure you have. This takes a bit of time to start, but once a week (or however long you choose) is planned, you click on shopping list and print out the week’s grocery list for all the meals in the plan. It also categorizes the list to make shopping easier. Don’t be put off by the initial time investment. There are several meal plans already listed–nice for trying new things without poring over the cookbook. I have done two weeks of this and have added the recipes we liked best into my own plan and discarded the others. My goal is to get five or six plans eventually set up and rotate through them. After that, I’ll be done making grocery lists!
I will say an iPad or laptop that can be in the kitchen makes this more user friendly. Without this you would have to print the recipes out or continue using the cookbook, but you still have your list of meals for the week and your grocery list done.
Time to go fix supper–fettuccine with blackened beef tips. Bon appétit!
