The boys have been enjoying Advent so far this year. They have daily reminded me of the need to open the flap on their Advent calendar we made that hangs in their room. We usually open it at bedtime, though they inform me at breakfast who or what is on the flap for the day.
They ask for advent devotions several times throughout the day which we also do in the evening. I’m not sure if it is lighting the candles (they are allowed to strike the match and light them by themselves) or the occasional candy they are allowed to eat during the devotions that is the biggest draw. Our readings so far for these two weeks have centered on the angel Gabriel appearing to different people to give them news of coming babies. This is of great importance to our own Gabriel.
Sebastian of course has no regard for the Advent calendar or family devotions, but he is quite taken with a large stuffed snowman and the Christmas tree. We have tried to establish the rule of touching the ornaments with only one finger to prevent their removal from the tree. He actually does remarkably well with this. Here are a few pictures by the tree. (Now fully decorated.)
