Let it Snow!

It is nearly the end of the year and with the exception of a few brief days we have been faced with brown grass outside instead of bright snow. While the milder temperatures have been pleasant, after our large amounts of snow last year I have missed the snow. The boys also are eager for it. So when we woke up this morning to falling snow they were quick to suggest going outside. I did persuade them to eat breakfast first. They managed a bowl of cereal and two pancakes before they were asking to get down. Donning all the snow gear is somewhat easier than last year, as the older boys can manage most of it by themselves, but it is still somewhat of a circus to get everyone ready. Sebastian was not to be left out of the picture and was anxious to join his older brothers.  The snowball maker they received for Christmas from Aunt Miranda was put to the test and it worked beautifully, making perfectly round snowballs with no effort at all. By the time I got outside, the boys had already shoveled off a good bit of the driveway to make a hill.  Last year Gabriel was not a big fan of the snow.  He did slightly better today but the minute he gets cold or wet he is ready to be done. Sebastian discovered walking in boots and snow pants was not as easy as it looks and decided he was much happier to sit in the sled and let his brothers pull him around, which they were eager to do.  I took the bigger boys around the yard a couple of times. Then Stephen discovered he could lie on his belly and hold on to the sled’s edge and catch a free ride.  It worked pretty well with one hanging on, but was a bit difficult to pull with everyone trying to sneak on.  We are back inside now, but the snow is still falling, and Jack has quite a stash of snowballs already made for the next time. With nowhere to go, we are happy to watch it fall.

I dreamed last night that you told me Stephen was dating someone. I was glad to wake up and realize he is still more interested in things like playing in the snow!
