Yesterday we took a trip to St Paul in order to attend the afternoon Ash Wednesday service. Since driving two hours for the short service seemed a bit much, we left early and got in a quick visit to the zoo to walk around on the indoor trails. The zoo animals were not very active that time of day, but it didn’t matter much as they were overshadowed by the abundance of ladybugs crawling around on the railings, the ground, and the crocodiles’ eyes. As we walked the trails most of the zoo animals were ignored as the boys watched the ladybugs crawl over their hands and up their sleeves and watched the ground to insure they did not step on any.  They were delighted with a large pile of the insects huddled together and observed which ones had spots and which ones didn’t and what their wings looked like when they flew.  I think we managed to leave them all at the zoo.

About Wendy McCollum

I am a single mom to five wonderful boys. Life is an adventure, with many twists and turns. We live in hope, always, for our great God can redeem all things. There are so many funny and precious moments that slip by too fast. Perhaps here I can save them for when my own memory fails.
