A Great, Grand Visit

I never knew any of my great-grandparents. My boys have the privilege of having five.  And on this particular trip, we got to see them all.

Our first stop was at my parents’ house in Kentucky where we had a wonderful visit with my mom, dad, and grandmother. My grandmother generously shared her peppermint sticks, much to the boys’ delight.

On the way down south we learned that both Adam’s granddad and his grandmother’s mother were in the hospital in Birmingham, so on our way into town we stopped at the hospital where we visited in the waiting room. The ICU nurse allowed us to dress the boys in gowns and masks to take a quick visit into ICU to see Pa Carter who got to meet Sebastian for the first time. Of course the gowns and masks were full size, so the boys made quite a picture. One of the nurses remarked on seeing them enter, “Oh, here comes a new group of residents.”

We were able to make another visit to the hospital a couple of days later and spend more time with them there.

About Wendy McCollum

I am a single mom to five wonderful boys. Life is an adventure, with many twists and turns. We live in hope, always, for our great God can redeem all things. There are so many funny and precious moments that slip by too fast. Perhaps here I can save them for when my own memory fails.
