Fly Me To the Moon

While visiting my parents’ house in Kentucky, we spent a few afternoons at the home of  the Riglings, where we enjoyed the coolness of the pool during the 100 degree days. They also have a son named Jack, and he is extremely inventive. On our first arrival, he wore proudly a skinned up leg which he earned when the zip line he built malfunctioned. His current project was a swing apparatus that would allow you to sail to extraordinary heights. During our 4th of July celebrations, Stephen was preparing to be launched. As he was strapping in, a grown up was playing along describing how Stephen would sail up to the moon and that it would take him a long time before coming back. He went on in great detail before he realized our Jack, who had been taking all of this to heart, had tears running down his cheeks at the thought.  Once Jack was reassured Stephen would indeed return, Stephen took flight.
