La Casa Cinco Hermano

While Adam is away at a conference, my kind mother-in-law offered to keep the boys for a while this afternoon so I could have time to myself. We met at the park and chatted for a bit while the boys played and then off they went to her house. I wandered a park while enjoying  uninterrupted phone conversations with two dear friends and then went home to enjoy a quiet house and a shower that didn’t involve anyone yelling through the door. I headed back over to her house for dinner and a movie and was greeted with this sign at the door. It means The House of Five Brothers. The door was opened for me by Stephen and I was escorted to my appointed place at the table. Isaac came with note pad in hand to welcome me and take my drink order and asked if I would be having the dessert and side with my meal. Jack and Sebastian promptly brought chips and salsa. I was informed there was a charge for the meal and discovered a manufactured $20 bill had been slipped into my back pocket, so I paid for my food up front.  Once Pap arrived home and had his order taken, he too paid for his meal with the construction paper money planted in his clean clothes. Isaac and Stephen explained to me that they had to put it in his clothes before he changed because he wasn’t used to children pulling on him like I was and would notice if they tried to sneak it in his pocket. We enjoyed our feast, prepared by Gran with the help of my young waiters.

About Wendy McCollum

I am a single mom to five wonderful boys. Life is an adventure, with many twists and turns. We live in hope, always, for our great God can redeem all things. There are so many funny and precious moments that slip by too fast. Perhaps here I can save them for when my own memory fails.
