February was a busy month. Adam finished up the first draft of a book he had been working on and mailed it off to the publisher. We celebrated his 34th birthday, accompanied by the yearly reminder that I am still older.
Adam took the boys and I for the first time to a beautiful park nearby, Buck Creek, that he had run at several times but we had never visited. It is a little sad to me that we have lived so close for such a long time but never visited before. The boys found all sorts of treasures–sycamore seed pods, snail shells, crab claws, berries…
Not long after our friends from graduate school came to visit. The children played and did science experiments in the back yard, which didn’t really work out but they had fun playing with baking soda and vinegar anyway. The adults enjoyed lots of time talking. And we took a picnic to Buck Creek accompanied by a long walk to the next park over where the play ground was. The dads walked back for the cars while we played and rested.
We started Whole 30 right after our friends left and just before Valentine’s Day so the month was filled with discussions of what could and could not be eaten and lots of planning what they wanted to eat when Whole 30 came to an end.
We visited Mom and Dad, with Mom graciously accommodating our limited diets and resisting the urge to indulge my children’s sweet tooth.
And before we knew it, February was over and Spring began to peek around the corner.
