April 3, 2015 was a big day–in addition to being Good Friday, Isaac and Stephen celebrated their 10th birthday. We went to lunch at Steak and Shake, per their request. They were a little put out with me that they got a kid sized milkshake instead of the regular size, but they had the traditional monkey bread breakfast that morning and other sweets later in the day.
On Saturday we celebrated with a birthday party including all the grandparents and other family, and the boys’ best friend from school, Nick, and his family. Stephen decided some time back that he wanted a map themed party with ice-cream cake, a scavenger hunt, and a globe piñata. Isaac wanted a cookie cake with a Minecraft theme. They blended together pretty well.
The party was a great success. It was fun watching them run around trying to figure out the clues. A scavenger hunt may become a traditional part of birthday celebrations. They made Minecraft party favors out of beads and we had twizzler TNT. The piñata was a success–unlike some years the string held until the piñata actually broke. I did feel a bit strange about hitting the world with a bat when it was time.
Isaac got his cookie. Minecraft truly is an easy topic.
Stephen had ice-cream cake with cookie dough ice-cream and chocolate cake. It is supposed to be an island in the middle.
Among other presents they received handmade Minecraft and Lego gifts that were very fun. Happy birthday to my dear sons. It is a joy and privilege to watch you grow and learn. I love you so very much and I am so proud of you.
