Isaac and Stephen Turn Ten!

IMG_7458April 3, 2015 was a big day–in addition to being Good Friday, Isaac and Stephen celebrated their 10th birthday. We went to lunch at Steak and Shake, per their request. They were a little put out with me that they got a kid sized milkshake instead of the regular size, but they had the traditional monkey bread breakfast that morning and other sweets later in the day.

On Saturday we celebrated with a birthday party including all the grandparents and other family, and the boys’ best friend from school, Nick, and his family. Stephen decided some time back that he wanted a map themed party with ice-cream cake, a scavenger hunt, and a globe piñata. Isaac wanted a cookie cake with a Minecraft theme. They blended together pretty well.IMG_7485

The party was a great success. It was fun watching them run around trying to figure out the clues. A scavenger hunt may become a traditional part of birthday celebrations.IMG_7507 They made Minecraft party favors out of beads and we had twizzler TNT.IMG_7492 The piñata was a success–unlike some years the string held until the piñata actually broke. I did feel a bit strange about hitting the world with a bat when it was time.

Isaac got his cookie. Minecraft truly is an easy topic.

Stephen had ice-cream cake with cookie dough ice-cream and chocolate cake. It is supposed to be an island in the middle.
