We rejoined the YMCA this summer so the boys could do some swimming. The older ones were a bit put out and having to redo the swim test again, but did just fine retaking it. Gabriel gave it a shot the beginning of the summer, but wasn’t quite ready. Just before his birthday we went for a swim. He asked if he could try again. I didn’t think he was ready, that I thought he needed to practice some more, but he assured me he could do it so I told him he could try. Sure enough, he did it. And amazingly enough, just before he reached the other end of the pool, the red bracelette that signals to the lifeguard he needs to wear a life jacket fell off all on its own and he was awarded a green one like his big brothers.
The past 2 weeks Gabriel and Sebastian both have taken swim lessons where Gabriel is learning new strokes and Sebastian is working on swimming without a float. It won’t be long before we have all five in green bracelets!
