Das Wiener Riesenrad

IMG_4792The weekend of Isaac and Stephen’s birthdays we headed to the Prater for our first ride on the famous Wiener Riesenrad–the Giant Ferris wheel. It was built in 1897 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Franz Josef I and has quite an interesting history. It is an icon of Vienna and certainly worth a trip. The day before we went we had beautiful weather, but it turned cold overnight and we were glad the cabins were enclosed. We enjoyed the views from up high. There was a bit of Gran nervousness and the height and swaying of the cabin as the children (and their mom) tended to move from one side to the other all at once causing it to tilt. We were joined by our dear friends, Byron and Elsa, just before Elsa had to return home, which made the time even more special. IMGP0158

About Wendy McCollum

I am a single mom to five wonderful boys. Life is an adventure, with many twists and turns. We live in hope, always, for our great God can redeem all things. There are so many funny and precious moments that slip by too fast. Perhaps here I can save them for when my own memory fails.
